It’s free to get started. You pay nothing until you start earning. Depending on the plan you choose, Patreon receives a percentage of the income you earn through membership, plus an industry standard rate for processing payments from your patrons.You will not be able to switch to charging patrons on a per-post basis or back to regular monthly once you turn on charge up front. You would think that they'd at least process a pro-rated credit for the month that was "unused".
